SUGGESTED TECHNOLOGY PREREQUISITES
Many times students are not aware and subsequently surprised that they have registered for a partially on-line or asynchronous course. To give students an idea of what knowledge and what equipment they will need to successfully pass the course many faculty have a section titled, “technology prerequisites” or “technology requirements,” on their syllabus. Below you will find the most common prerequisites.
- You must know, at a basic level how to log into and navigate Blackboard.
- You must have access to and know how to use your City Tech e-mail account. You can, if you like have your mail forwarded to another email account from your City Tech account, but you are responsible for doing this.
- You must have access to and be able to navigate a current version of one or more of the following internet browsers: (1) Netscape, (2) Internet Explorer, (3) Firefox, (4) Google Chrome. Please also note thatAOLdoes NOT support Blackboard.
- You will need access to a computer with a high speed internet connection.
The office of Instructional Technology (Karen Lundstrem, Director) has a quick and easy student survey that offers advice on whether or not an asynchronous course is for you. The survey can be found at:
